Family drawing is one of the favorite topics for children when they draw.
A child drawing Analyzer can learn about the family structure, the family hierarchy. The relationships between the parents and the children, the state of relations between the parents, the order of preferences of a parent towards each of the children,
it is possible in light of the results of interpreting the drawing to locate the difficulty within the relationship system and with various therapeutic tools to remove emotional walls and even more so. In fact, like any drawing, we are talking about feelings and life perceptions at that given moment when the child is drawing the drawing. Family drawing helps to understand the child, serves as a tool for understanding the child’s perception of his family and his emotional state. The family cell is the place where the child is supposed to and must feel confident in himself, he needs to be able and able to bring himself in a true and authentic way. In the family, very close and tight bonds are formed between the children and their parents.
And family drawing allows us to understand if and where there are difficulties and where to treat.
Here are some examples of family drawing:
The United Family: In this family, all the figures are presented in proximity to each other, hugging or holding hands. This indicates a strong bond and a sense of unity among the family members. They are physically close to each other, which indicates a high level of comfort and connection.
The Distancing Family: Here, each figure is placed on a different side of the page, creating a sense of distance between them. This can indicate a lack of closeness or a sense of disconnection among the family members. It may indicate that they are emotionally distant from each other, or that they value their independence and personal space.
The Unusual Family: In this family there are figures that are missing body parts or have exaggerated parts. This can indicate a sense of individuality and uniqueness among the family members. It may indicate that each person in the family has his own unique personality and areas of interest, and that he celebrates and embraces the differences between them, such deficiencies can teach about physical or verbal and auditory communication limitations.
The Minimized Family: Here, all the figures are drawn very small in relation to the size of the page. This can indicate a sense of humility or modesty within the family. It may indicate that the family members value modesty and simplicity, or that they prefer to stay away from the spotlight.
The Enlarged Family: In this family the figures fill the entire page and there is no empty space. This can indicate a sense of abundance or generosity within the family. It may indicate that the family members are outgoing and expressive, or that they enjoy being in the center of attention.
The Organized Family: Here, the figures are arranged in a very orderly and calculated manner. This can indicate a sense of discipline or structure within the family. It may indicate that the family values routine and order, or that they have established clear roles and responsibilities.
The Chaotic Family: In this family, the figures are scattered in a chaotic manner across the page. This can indicate a sense of creativity or spontaneity within the family. It may indicate that the family members enjoy trying new things and taking risks, or that they prefer a more flexible and unplanned lifestyle.
The Central Family: Here, the figures are located in the center of the page and there is a lot of empty space around them. This can indicate a sense of focus or intention within the family. It may indicate that the family members are focused and grounded, or that they give preference to a certain value or goal.

It may indicate that each person in the family has his own unique point of view or approach, or that he values his personal freedom. Or the desire of the drawer to distance from him the figures that he is far from them or very afraid of.
The Integrated Family: Here there are figures that are integrated with each other, as if they are one component. This can indicate a sense of unity or harmony within the family. It may indicate that the family members work well together and support each other, or that they share a common goal or vision.
As mentioned, every family drawing gives us important information with which we can build a therapeutic plan to improve the relationship system in the family. And the most important thing to me as a child drawing interpreter, it is possible to clearly understand if the child or one of the family members experiences violence from another family member.
As part of my work with many families over the years, and based on the work with them, I developed a special model for interpreting drawings of the whole family. The model gives us a therapeutic tool that did not exist until now.
